Catherine Titus comes to FSI as a first year teacher, newly licensed in high school ELA. She received her B.A in English Literature from UNC Greensboro with a concentration in creative writing. After a handful of years of gaining real world experience, she decided to go back to school to pursue her licensure from UNC Asheville. Catherine begins her teaching career being recognized as “highly qualified” due to her impressive EDTPA scores. Catherine strives to create a classroom culture that reflects the community and places a high emphasis on finding the connections of ELA to the real world. Her pedagogies are rooted in project-based learning, empathy, critical thinking, questioning the norms, and using literature to help students grow into the best possible versions of themselves.
